Only when we become humble and childlike (like Samuel) are we able to hear. Eli couldn't hear the Lord because he had let corruption enter his life. I so easily find excuses for not having a structured quiet time. I tend to forget that God doesn't have to meet me only in the early morning when I think I should have my quiet time. He can also meet me in the middle of the night when I nurse the baby.
