1. How did you begin your blogging journey? I didn't want to study, and I loved reading other blogs so I started my own. My first year, I only posted about eleven times. It was pretty spotty.

2. What was your blog about in the beginning? Has it changed since then? It was boring because I was depressed and stressed about medical school. When I dropped out of medical school, I started posting more regularly. Then I was inspired by a friend who posts every day. And I gradually built up to everyday posting myself. My blog is now a mommy-blog with a little bit of this and that thrown in too.

3. How long have you been blogging? Three or four years, depending on whether or not I count that first year.

4. And lastly…When you hit a spot where you have no idea what to write about, how did you get your ideas?
I keep a private post where I've listed ideas for future posts. Then I strike through the ideas as I use them. I have about 16 ideas on there right now that I haven't used yet. On days where I'm full of ideas but have no time, I just add the ideas to the list. It really helps me when I come up to a brick wall.

citystreamss last blog post..<a href="http://citystreams.wordpress.com/2008/07/16/teacher-for-hire/">Teacher for Hire</a>

Hi! I just recently found your blog via Thankful Thursday.

I've only been blogging since Feb 2008, but have found it a great way to share my faith. It also forces me to spend time in the Word since I try to share primarily my studies as I read throught the Bible book by book. I've also included posts regarding scriptures or sermons that are meaningful to me and some additional bible studies that my husband and I have participated in. Outside of those, I participate in a few memes and occassionally will share bits and pieces of my personal life.

I don't seem to run out of things to post too often since I'm looking at so many areas surrounding my faith from which to post. When I do find that I'm a bit "dry", though, I will spend some time praying about it asking God to show me what He would have me write about and then spend some time in the Bible.

I hope this is helpful to you and I'll be back soon to visit. I'd love to share this journey with you!

Have a great week!

Annabelle,
I came by way of you thru TT, but I saw this post and wanted to come back and give you my thoughts.

Great questions and I have a friend that started blogging and came up against a wall and questioned herself whether or not she should continue. I say, as long as you feel Gods nudging KEEP ON, because you never know who might come across your site and be ministered to.

For too long the internet has been used for evil and I love places like the CWO (christian women online) and AG blogring (assemblies of god blogring) and top 100 christian blogsites because God is using what used to be meant for evil (internet surfing) for good thru our blogs ministering to others and spreading Gods Word and Truth. How cool is that?

I have only been blogging since the first of the year. Prior to this, I administered a forum on the web that was for women who wanted to be part of prayer group and I also wrote weekly devotions that I posted and the ladies could openly discuss it. That type of forum became infested with non christian views and I began to have alot of members trying to be a part of it that would either have bogus e-addys or try to post porn sites so I HAD to disban it as it became too much for me to handle all the bad stuff. THUS...after reading a book about blogging - I thought this could be the way for me to go. So I started blogging.

First - I started out writing devotions, and then readers were wanting more - something more than just once a week, so I started to add other writings such as the TT post. Some of the writings are about my life or something God has brought me thru but I always bring scripture into it.

Sometimes if I feel like I have a writers block, I just start with a scripture, or a quote and then build my writing around that. It amazes me how every week God gives me something to write about.

You can get alot of ideas also from devotional books. If you can just start with an idea .... I think God will fill in the blanks.

Another thing you can do if you are struggling with things to write is get on board with all of the different memes that are out there. There is something every day of the week, you can find alot of them on CWO if you don't know where to start. The memes are more specific of what to write about but I found participating in these memes give you alot of visibility to your blog by other meme participants.

Some of my most devoted readers are friends that I have met thru blogging and thru the memes that I participate in.

If you are at a hard place I would encourage you to keep on writing. I think the biggest thing to go further in blogging is to have a purpose or a mission for your blog and then it will be easier to have focus on what God is wanting to speak thru you in the bloggy world!

Hope this helps. God bless, Laurie

Those are great questions.

I started blogging last December. I had been reading several blogs (mainly mom blogs). I basically decided, hey, why not?

My blog is about my life. I mainly write about my moments with and reflections about my kiddos. I think that my blog has changed a bit in now I realize that I have a bit of a (small) audience. So, I think that even though everything I write is true, I do try to make my writing a bit more engaging than I would otherwise. Of course, sometimes this works better than others.

As for what to do when I can't think of anything. I pretty much just hope one of the kids does something blog-worthy. :) It usually happens.
