“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”

The last few days I have been feeling like God is moving in my life, calling me to something more, freeing me up from something that has been holding me back from the fullness of God.

Last night as I was preparing for Bible Study (we are reading Beth Moore‘s book, Get Out Of That Pit together…which, by the way, is a great book!), I felt the Lord tugging on my heart.  I knew that I was on the brink of some sort of breakthrough.  I instantly emailed my worship leader mentor friend, and told her what I was feeling, she lead me to this scripture…

1 Samuel 3:9-11 (New International Version)

9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

11 And the LORD said to Samuel: “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.

For so long I have felt like I have ADD and only when it comes to sitting down to spend quiet time with the Lord.  I just can’t quiet myself down to stop and listen to what God has to say for me.  I have been really struggling with finding my quiet time.

The feeling that the “flood gates of Heaven” will open if I just surrender and spend some quality time with God.  How do you do that with a house full of boys and a dog that likes to bark at the cat?  There are so many distractions in my house!

This morning sealed it when I came across a post from Pete (the Pastor of Cross Point Church in Nashville) on Without Wax.  Yep, that confirmed what I have known…I have a self problem, I need to stop focusing on myself and start focusing on God!  Thanks Pete for the confirmation this morning.

Urgent Prayer Request

I have a friend in Colorado whose nephew is in desperate NEED of prayer.  Please, pray for him and his family.  He has just had surgery for a broken back and neck and his injuries are life threatening.  Please hop over to Erin’s blog and let her know you are praying for him!

Blogging community? Where??

This week, I have learned a lot about the blogging world that I didn’t know!

Twitter, there’s a whole community out there of bloggers who keep in touch with each other on a more intimate basis.  Kind of like chatting on IM.  I found this through a couple people talking about it on their blog.  After asking about what twitter is, I went to check it out.  I now Twitter!

Oh and I use Twitbin too!  It’s a plugin through Mozilla Firefox.  You have a window open inside your window that has your twitter friends on it!  It’s wonderful!  Now I don’t have to keep going out to my twitter page to see what my friends are up to!

Mom Blogger’s Club…a place that mommy bloggers come together and form a community of help and support.  I have been a member of message boards in the past, and this reminds me of a message board type of thing.  Many boggers offering other bloggers support!

I have been blogging for years, and never knew about all the different groups offering support that were available out there!  There really is a community of mommy bloggers out there!

14 years!

Yesterday, Kevin and I celebrated our 14th anniversary!  We didn’t do much, we have plans to go out in about a week with some friends from church (her 30th birthday is Aug 1, so we will celebrate then…without kids!). So, yesterday, I was going to make steak for supper, but when Kevin came home, he told me to just order supper from somewhere and we would eat out.  So we had TGI Friday’s for supper.  YUM, but I over ate!

If you want to hear all about my wedding day, I posted about it last year here.

Twitter

I joined Twitter!  Just thought I’d share!

You may return to your regularly scheduled program!

Twitter?

What is Twitter? How do you use it? Do you have one?

I see people talking about it all the time and I’m clueless!

Quote

A quote from Beth Moore’s Book, “Get Out of that Pit”

“…inauthentic people are ineffective people….Liberty cannot exist apart from transparency.”

Just something to ponder!

Cereal again?

Why is it that whenever my children are given free rain to eat what they want for lunch or super, they choose cereal?

Today was no different, they all had cereal for breakfast, then turned around and had cereal for a snack (dry of course).  Then when I told them it was lunch time and said they could have what they wanted, they all chose cereal again!

How can hey eat that day in and day out?  I just don’t get it!

MOVE THAT BUS!!

Yep, you heard it…I said that phrase probably about 20 different times yesterday! Did I mention it was 95 degrees outside!! What a long day!!

My mom came down here on Wednesday evening and spent the night. We were up and ready to go out the door by 6 am! Yes, I was up…but I’m not a morning person AT.ALL. We grabbed McDonald’s and headed to the parking lot where the school shuttle buses were. We didn’t have to wait at all to get onto the bus, so no time to eat breakfast!

We get to the house at 6:30 am and eat our breakfast on the neighbor’s lawn. They had the yard blocked off by gates so you knew where you were/weren’t allowed to be.

The volunteers start throwing things into the audience…how exciting! Michael got a pair of shorts that have that little red bear bottom from Charmin on it. When we went to the bathroom, someone handed each of us a Charmin t-shirt. Then they started throwing out bracelets. They were in support of the SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy…which is what the 2 girls have). Both Michael & Noah got one of those.

We did take after take after take after take of the bus moving, the family arriving, the crowd screaming. By the time the family actually arrived…we were all tired of yelling…not really, but I was!

We seen a number of people pass out from heat and the medical staff run through the crowd to take care of them. The volunteers did bring out case after case of water to pass out to the crowd. The thing I didn’t understand, why would you come to this event unprepared? They weren’t there to give out water and food to you while you were there, the news told you to bring water and food to the event if you were going. Even when they interviewed Ty, he told everyone to bring an umbrella for shade, food and water.

Michael took off (I gave him boundaries of where he was allowed to be), apparently, he wiggled his way up to the front and even gave Ty a high 5! Little bugger! I would have L.O.V.E.D. to have gotten a photo of that, but I was way back in the crowd…people don’t really like to move for a double stroller, so we pretty much found our spot and stayed put!

It was really neat to see the family actually arrive and yes, I did see

Michael Moloney

Paul DiMeo

Ed Sanders

and Ty Pennington!

Yeah, I know, they are hard to see, but I wasn’t really close to the front…remember the stroller? Yeah, we were stuck in the middle of the crowd!

The house

I hope you enjoyed looking, I had fun, but it was HOT and my arms are now burnt, my boys thankfully didn’t get much sun…my mom, however, she’s really, REALLY red!
